A scientist dedicated to
all things homeopathic

About Jo

I suffered for many years with migraines and in 2002 I started experiencing disturbing side effects from migraine tablets. I met a homeopath through a friend and decided to go and see her. I was amazed at how in-depth the first consultation was, the questions she asked helped her to build up a picture of me as a whole person. As well as prescribing a homeopathic remedy, she tested me for food intolerences and suggesting changes to my diet. My energy levels improved enormously within a week and the migraines became much less frequent and less intense.

Homeopathy

Homeopathy worked extremely well for me so I became more curious about how and why it worked. This led me to study for four years at the British School of Homoeopathy in Bath, graduating in the summer of 2007. I am also a registered member of the Society of Homeopaths and adhere to their code of ethics and professional conduct.

Scientific Mind

I have a background in science, gaining a degree in chemistry at Sussex University before working in university chemistry and geology research laboratories for many years. With my scientific mind I wanted to see existing evidence supporting homeopathy and was reassured to find there are a huge number of research papers and studies which show it is an effective treatment. See the Research postings on the blog for more information.

In March 2010 I was appointed to the Society of Homeopaths Research Committee. Our aim is to encourage and support research in homeopathy and also to raise awareness of existing good quality research.

Volunteering and Community Projects

When I lived in Bristol I ran a drop-in homeopathy clinic for the Big Issue http://www.bigissue.co.uk where I treated magazine vendors and staff. I also worked for SANE http://www.sane.org.uk the mental health charity on their helpline, as a result, I have a particular interest in mental health, self harm and addictions.

Every summer I volunteer with the Travelling Homeopaths Collective http://www.thc.org.uk who provide low cost homeopathy clinics at various festivals over the summer season.

In 2008 and 2009 I spent time in Kolkata in India doing a post graduate homeopathy course with Dr Subrata Banerjea. This was an amazing experience and you can see more about my Indian adventures on my blog.

I am an active member of WorcNet http://www.worcnet.co.uk/ which is a women’s business networking group and also involved in a Community Group based at Ings Primary School in Skipton.
